Until 30 June KIRK Gallery is hosting a large group show with 11 highly recognized artists on the international urban art scene.
Quite a few of the artists have been part of the mural project initiated by the gallery titled ”Out in the Open” . There are many more murals to come.
With the exhibition ”On the move”, you’ll get an opportunity to get a feeling of what’s happening at the international Urban Art scene right now.
From being an underground culture, Urban Art today is a ground breaking expression, gaining worldwide attention.
With this show, KIRK Gallery has gathered a group of ground breaking urban artists, who have had and are having a large impact on the latest currents within this art scene.
Several of the ten artists are showcasing in Denmark for the first time, and their work gives an insight into what Urban Art embraces.
The exhibition spands from strong surrealistic work by Dutch artist Joram Roukes, - to the American artist James Bulloughs work on board and paper, working with the tension between modern realism and urban art.
Joram Roukes’ large scale oil paintings are observations and representations of modern day society as well as human behavior.
Roukes' artworks on canvas and his murals are characterised by both irony and a more serious hue. This will be his first presentation at KIRK Gallery with more to come.
At the same time there are new vibes from Australian artist Fintan Magee, who is know for his many murals around the world, with a unique style mixing the surreal with the humorous or disturbing, while Wes21 integrates both fantasy and reality and takes it to new levels.
New currents from yet another six artists can be explored, among others from the American artist Wiley Wallace who encapsulates the metaphysical world. Sci-fi, colour and fantasy are words that spring to mind, when seeing his work, while the two French brothers Ratur and Sckaro’s work often is the tension between graffiti and the great old classical masters.
Thank you to everyone who came along for the opening night, where street food, lounge music and drinks were part of a wonderful evening with cutting edge urban art on the gallery walls.
The exhibition is showing till 31st of May 2018, so feel free to stop by and experience it.
