SIDE EFFECTS

13.3. - 25.4.2020

Welcome to the solo show 'Side Effects' by German Timo von Eicken.
Watching the work of the artist develop the last few years, we have been looking forward to presenting his work at the gallery for the first time.
Timo von Eicken was born and raised in Hamburg, where he still lives and works today, where the metropolis has remained his primary source of inspiration.
Educated in graphic design his earlier work was more graphically inspired, while his work today is based on figurative painting, often expressed in strong stories full of paradoxes.

SIDE EFFECTS
About the show 'Side Effects' Timo von Eicken tells the following:
“This time I have dealt with the issue of side effects, since quite often it is the undesired side effects that trigger a completely new problem from a supposedly easy to solve situation. Side effects can also be understood literally and refers in my paintings to the persons / partners who can exert a good or even a bad influence.
It is about little things that can change a situation completely.
In my work I am concerned with people who help each other or stand in their way.
I play with the question of what effects relationships or even loneliness or isolation have on us.
Where there is light, there is also shadow. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages because everywhere side effects are hidden.”
