Galleri Kirk welcomes you to the meeting of Denmark’s most prominent contemporary artists with its upcoming exhibition at Galleri Kirk & Frederikshavn Museum.
The exhibition at the museum, A Visit From Galleri KIRK I An Unknown Land, features many of the artists the gallery works with as well as the artists featured at this month’s exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition at Frederikhavn Museum opens the 12 of March at 14.00 - the week after the opening in the gallery – so make sure to write it in your calendar.
With the exhibition, An Unknown Land, we have invited some of the most prominent Danish contemporary artists of the past 10 to 15 years. Eske Kath, after many years in New York, attracted attention with the decoration of the ceiling is Frederik the 8th’s palace in the Crown Prince’s quarters. In the meantime, Mie Olise has also had success in the US, while Kasper Eistrup has set Kashmir on pause to concentrate on art.
For this exhibition, they all worked starting out with the theme, An Unknown Land. This is a place where we push ourselves to the edge and push toward new and unknown scenarios or mental spaces, which we may not be accustomed to. This is when we are testing new roles and conditions that are previously untested and possibly troubling. What happens with us and how do these conditions challenge our understanding of ourselves when we suddenly become part of an all-new context?
