Afarin Sajedi was born in 1979 in Shiraz. She came to Tehran to study at Tehran Azad University, where she received her degree in Graphic Design. Afarin’s creativity, technique and powerful presentation are expressed in her theatrical characters. These include colourful clown-like faces inspired by Japanese theater and symbols of western religious art but in the face of the contemporary world. Her characters are usually royal, proud and silent with a deep look. The fish symbolises most of her artworks and draws them closer to the surreal or pop surrealistic styles.
