Bego Riba (Spain) experiments with realism and surrealism to create unique, provocative and suggestive images.
She analyzes the shapes, colors and textures of everyday unnoticed objects, waste or rubbish, and she creates between them a new connection by removing them from their usual context and altering the scale in which they are normally perceived. She does this to provide them with more interest and prominence.
Working with techniques that allow her to have more precision and smoothness in the result like oils, charcoal, watercolor and ink, she creates a contrast between the delicate finish of the work and the coarseness of the object.
She is interested in the relationship created between randomly combined objects and the reaction it causes in the viewer, producing a suggestive language of limitless readings.Bego Riba has been working full time as an artist since 2001. She currently lives and works in Palma de Mallorca (Spain).
