LI-HILL

Aaron Li-Hill is a Canadian visual artist currently based alternately in London and New York. He is a versatile artist who works with everything from painting, illustration, stenciling and sculptural elements. With a background in graffiti and mural painting and a degree in Fine Arts, his works range from smaller hanging pieces to huge murals. All works explore industrialization, scientific breakthroughs, "man versus nature" and information saturation. With his mixed Chinese-American cultural background, Li-Hill creates complex works that draw on both cultures.

Li-Hill's works can be seen in cities such as Melbourne, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Berlin and Hong Kong. His works have also been shown in major institutions such as the National Gallery of Victoria, The Art Gallery of Ontario, Long Beach Museum of Art, Urban Nation Museum of Contemporary Art Berlin, Portsmouth Museum of Art in New Hampshire and CCCC museum in Valencia.

Li-Hill tries to show the complexities of our modern age's rapid development. Through the "Western" gaze, Li-Hill points to the impact of capitalist culture on the psyche of the individual. In these dynamic, almost futuristic works, which all show people in motion, we are attracted by the many layers of interpretation. The works exude various cultural elements, all placed in dimly hinted or undefined spaces. A fragile beauty emerges from the many layers and condensed imagery. A transience, which is precisely the whole core of urban art, is clearly evident in Li-Hill's works.
