AMARTEY GOLDING

Amertey Golding was born in Hackney, London in 1988. The artist has in recent years been noticed on the international scene, through his works based on charcoal, oil and acrylic on raw canvas which creates a unique and powerful statement.
With this expression, which in many ways reflects Amartey's own history, he has already returned from sold out shows in Germany, Lebanon and Dubai

Today he lives and works in London, but as a child he moved around with his family as his father came from Ghana and his mother from Scotland. The trips have not only been to various opposing communities in London, but also abroad to Ghana, West Africa. These experiences and constant continuity has undoubtedly affected Amartey's illustrations. Constantly having to adapt to new environments, where he often felt that he wasn't part of the culture, but rather an observer who looked into and observed scenarios from an external viewpoint.
